SLEEPING WITH THE FISHES

After crawling through the tunnel debris, Lara finds a secret entrance to the underwater laboratory. Her competition for the Fifth Artifact seems to be well financed. The underwater loading docks must be for some clandestine operation. Is this a government installation or a private enterprise? Lara knows only one person has that kind of money. If you have seen one too many tombs, you will be in for a very nice surprise. For this level, you may want to drag out that Beatles' oldie, "We all live in a yellow submarine....". Now if you don't like swimming, you may not be so happy. But air is always nearby. Just save a game where you have air, and explore until Lara's health runs out. Reload your saved game and then do the real exploration. First underwater structure: Pick up the harpoons near the yellow door. Above the locker are what appear to be a couple of pictures of Lara. In the next room, drop down into the pit by the window and catch a glimpse of some divers getting ready to swim. Look at all of the goodies on the other side of the window. Pick up the flares and continue on. Look through all of the windows and at the large window you will see a small yellow sub motoring by. You can also see a dolphin. After admiring the scenery, enter the room with the pool and try to pick up the sniper as he runs by on the top floor. Jump into the pool and explore the underwater world. Underwater: In the pool, line up with the doorway into the pool room. Swim down and then swim up high underneath the netting. Pick up harpoons under the netting. Swim back to the pool for air. This time face opposite the doorway and swim out. Find an opening on the bottom of another underwater building. Swim up into the room and look in the corner for an underwater lever. Pull the lever to open the nearby gates and catch a glimpse of a diver in the next room. Swim through the gates and shoot the diver with your harpoon gun. Climb out and admire all of the goodies. Pick up three sets of shotgun shells and harpoons. There is one more mysterious object on the floor that cannot be picked up. Return to the underwater structure with the first pool. First underwater structure: Find the red hand wheel on the other side of the pool and turn it to open a door. Shoot the sniper that runs through the open door into the pool room. Go upstairs and find the open door with the red hand wheel. After entering the door, pick up a small medi-pack. Run around the pool and pick up the MP5 clips near the open door. Then slide down the ramp into the pool below. In the cage: Find the underwater lever in the cage. Pull the lever to open a door at the center of the cage wall. This releases two divers. Quickly swim out the hole and wait for the divers. It is much easier to pick off the divers with the harpoon gun when they are far away. Swim under the yellow structure and swim up to grab some air. Building with green crates: Before climbing out of the pool, catch your breath and take a swim. Swim to the top side of the cages on the left side. Swim through the tunnel in the left wall. Pick up two sets of harpoons from the tunnel floor. You emerge outside in the current where you saw the yellow sub speed by from the window. Surprise, two dolphins show up and play as you swim with the current. The current drops you by another tunnel in the yellow wall. Swim down the tunnel and take a left. Climb out for SECRET #1. Pick up harpoons and two large medi-packs. Now that you have some air, you can swim back out to the current and play with the two dolphins. Return back down the tunnel and take a right. Climb out and shoot the sniper on the long ledge. Drop into the water and look on the bottom for harpoons and a small medi-pack. Swim to the end and find a hole in the netting. Swim back out by the yellow underwater chamber. Swim back up by the top of the cages and find Uzi clips on the ledge near the cages. Return back to the pool for air. Climb out of the water and pick flares and harpoons. Move the two green crates out of the way to uncover the opening to a grated window. Pick up a small medi-pack. Push the button to open the underwater gate to another area. Jump into the pool and swim through the underwater gate. Structure with cranes: The current pulls you through the tunnel and drops you by the yellow structure with the cranes. Swim up through the bottom for some air. Pick up the large medi-pack and harpoons. Watch as a cone-shaped submarine drops off a couple of divers. Time to do battle! Equip yourself with the harpoon gun and swim out in the direction of the window. Swim above the middle of the structure and start shooting at the divers. If the divers are too close, swim far away and turn and shoot. Return to crane structure for some air. Now swim towards the tunnel where you entered this area. Swim up through the opening and to the top of the structure. Pick up grenades from the top of the crane structure. Swim to the bottom for some air. Repeat the trip to the top of the structure, now look for a small cave near the ceiling (left of the cone-shaped submarine, but near the building with windows.) Pick up flares and the yellow Circuit Bulb. Return to the bottom of the crane structure for some air. Follow the lights on the floor of the underwater cave: Follow the lights on the floor of the underwater cave which will trigger another cone-shaped submarine and two divers. Shoot the divers. Near the ceiling is a handy structure with air. It is kind of fun to swim up for air and wait for the diver. Harpoons will fly by into the ceiling. Pick up the small medi-pack and the other Circuit Bulb. Shoot the divers. Drop into the water and swim to the bottom. Pick up some harpoons and follow the lights on the ocean floor towards the submarine. Look for a yellow door on the left and find a tunnel to the right of the yellow door. Follow the tunnel to SECRET #2! Tunnel to right of yellow door near submarine: Follow the tunnel and swim straight ahead to the opening in the ocean floor. Swim down and emerge for some air. Pick up a small medi-pack and harpoons. Jump back into the water. Swim out and pick up the flares from the ocean floor. For the shotgun shells, line up with the tunnel and aimed at the air hole side of the wall. Press the Action key to pick up the shotgun shells, then swim for the wall as another of those fast submarines comes zipping by to flatten poor Lara if she is in the way. Get some air. Behind the yellow submarine: The submarine has knocked out a wall revealing an old sunken submarine. Swim out and pick up the Desert Eagle and two sets of Desert Eagle clips. Return for air. All done with this cave, go back down the tunnel to the main chamber. Swim to the chamber at the top of the cave and get some air. Now swim the upper part of the cave back to the structure with the cranes. Pick up a rocket from the metal slab held by the cranes. About the sunken submarine... Climb out and insert the Circuit Bulbs in the receptacles by the window facing the netting. This opens the yellow door at the end of the path with the lights on the ocean floor. Jump back in the water and swim towards the cranes; follow the lights to the yellow door (Restricted Area)! Swim up the large tunnel. Hall by control room: The door is shut, not much you can do now, so jump back in the water and look for a nearby tunnel into a chamber with a white structure. You can get air at the bottom of the white structure. Swim underneath the cage (near the two doors in the cave wall), look for a well-hidden tunnel. Follow the tunnel down and get greeted by a very big fish (ahem, a mutant alligator fish :- ) perhaps?). Turn around and swim as fast as you can for the tunnel by the control room. If the fish follows, climb out and shoot it with the pistols. If it doesn't follow, swim back into the main chamber with the white structure, start shooting as soon as Lara notices it. You should be able to kill it before it reaches you. Now get some air and swim down the tunnel. Pick up a large medi-pack, grenades and the grenade gun for SECRET #3! Get some air. Swim above the tunnel to the control room and take a right, look down and pick up some harpoons. Return to the hall by the control room. Hall by the control room: To get the control room door open...... Swim up by the control room window nearest the guard. Swim to the bottom of the white structure for air. If you hear the alarm or "Hey", the door should be open. Now swim back to the control room and enter the door. Shoot the guard. Pick up the harpoons, small medi-pack and flares. Push the button in the control room to open the door at the end of the hall. Cage: Go to the end of the hall and enter the cage and pick up the small medi-pack and a rocket. Look out the window for some interesting sights - mutants. Return to the center of the cage and turn both red hand wheels to open two doors in the cave wall by the white structure. Behind each door is a large fish. Return to the hall by the control room and swim into the chamber with the white structure. Swimming with the Fishes: Two more large alligator mutant fish await. Swim out by the white structure and get their attention, then swim back to the hall by the control room. Climb out of the water and shoot any fish that follow with the pistols. OR swim into the main chamber and wait near the door. Pick off the fish when they are far away. If they got too close, turn and swim back to the hallway by the control room. They will either follow you in for easy pickings with the pistols or will swim to the far side of the large chamber making nice far away targets for the harpoon gun. Open doors in cave wall: Swim into the right open door near the cage. Pick up the Mutant Sample. Get some air, then swim into the left open door. Pick up the other Mutant Sample. Swim down the tunnel and emerge. A strange sight to see - mutants suspended in tanks. Run up the stairs and shoot the guard. Pick up a small medi-pack from the dead man. Look down to see an interesting object on a dangerous looking floor. Don't bother dropping down or Lara will turn into a crispy critter. Do a jump grab to the ledges and explore all the way to the top. Find a rocket and grenades on the higher ledges. Go back down the stairs by the mutant tanks and enter the lower room. Cages with mutants: Cages with mutants - some bad genetic experiment gone wrong??? Looking out the windows, see a dolphin and one of those alligator fish. Move the green crate near the fish tank to uncover Uzi clips. Pull the other green crate towards the door to reveal another electronic terminal. Two mutant samples and two terminals - Use the Action key to place the Mutant samples in each of the terminals which fills the empty room up the stairs with water. Pool and underwater tanks: Swim down to the bottom and pick up the Hand of Rathmore which opens a door into one of the underwater rooms. The dolphin! Look for the underwater lever and pull it as best you can as the dolphin keeps nudging Lara. The next door opens to the tank with the large alligator like fish. Lure the fish back to the first pool and climb out. Shoot the fish with your pistols. Jump back in the water and swim through the dolphin tank, continue through the open door and swim around the tank until you find the Uzi clips in the corner. Swim up through the hole in the ceiling and continue swimming up through another hole in the ceiling. Climb out into a beautiful sunset over the ocean and watch two WWII vintage planes fly by in a dogfight, a British Spitfire and a German Messerschmitt ME109 or Folke Wulf??. (Doninss) Walk around the buoy, then jump into the water to swim to the liferaft.
