I do hope you enjoyed your walk in the park for the Highland Fling level. You are in for a rude awakening, as things are about to turn rather nasty as you descend into Williard's Lair. Save your game often in this level. The beginning: Save your game! I did warn you! Slide down the ramp and land at the bottom which triggers a wall of spikes. Immediately pick up the box of flares, then do a simple jump to escape the spiked wall. Slide down several ramps and land with a thud at the bottom. Look up to see a boulder headed your way. Time a simple jump to jump over the boulder as it rolls towards you (much easier said than done). Whew, that was interesting. Now explore where the boulder came from. Walk up the hill and light a flare to find a crawlspace. Crawl through and emerge above a hole with water. Drop into the water and swim around to find 3 sets of harpoons on the underwater floor. (We sure seem to be picking up a lot of harpoons; I hope that does not mean what I think it does.) When finished with the pool, return to the boulder hall and pick up Crowbar where you previously dropped down from the ramp. Walk to the end of the boulder runway and do a simple jump to the green ledge in the center of the room below. At the bottom: Hang over the edge of the green ledge and drop to the floor below. One of those dogs with the laser eyes is there to greet you. Carefully shoot him and avoid the nearby pit with spikes. Find the exit to the cave. WALK through the cave tunnel as more surprises await- impaled skeletons suddenly pop out of the wall (ala Indiana Jones). Crawl under the skeleton and pick up a medi-pack. Continue walking slowly as more skeletons pop out of the wall until you reach the room of boulders. Green boulder cave: Save your game a lot!!!! Leave the shotgun shells on the floor for a landmark. 1. Run to the square just past the shotgun shells and take a right into the wall just before the hall. 2. Go back to the shotgun shells and run straight ahead into the pillar. 3. Facing the pillar, turn right and run straight into the wall. Walk towards the corner staying next to the wall. Turn around and face the pillar from where you came and run back to the pillar (next to the boulders). 4. Pick up the Desert Eagle clips behind the pillar. Now go to the side of the pillar near the entrance to the cave. Stay near the pillar and away from the wall. Walk to the boulder in the center of the room. Now quickly run around the boulder in the center of the room to trigger the boulder in the corner. The boulder will take a path right next to the wall. Pick up the goodies avoiding the remaining boulder - shotgun shells, a rocket, and grenades. Start up the exit hall to trigger a boulder, but quickly jump back into the alcove where you found the grenades. Go up the exit hallway and see the large medi-pack behind bars. Save your game. Spiked Walls: Slide down the ramp to the left of large medi-pack behind bars. After landing, immediately, turn right and climb up to escape the first spiked wall. You have not yet escaped, another spiked wall! Run forward and stop to pick up the MP5 clips, near the wall, then climb up to escape the second spiked wall. Not again! another spiked wall is coming your way. Run straight ahead into the switch. Pull the switch then turn right and run for the open gate at the end of the hall opposite the spiked wall. After the last room with the spiked wall, take a right down the hall and drop into the pit with the barred window to pick up a well deserved large medi-pack. Return to the hall and continue to the end of the hall, passing a couple of ramps into a room with a wood platform. Slide down the last ramp and land on the wood platform. Wood platform: Land on the wood platform and immediately leap back into the corner. Three hawks descend from over head. Keep shooting until all of the hawks are dead. Look down and you will see a very deep pit below. Death awaits, so save your game. Walk over to the next wooden block, then take a long running jump (1) to the wooden platform near the small medi-pack by the barred window. Blocks crash down from overhead. Pick up the small medi-pack and look through the barred window to see a room on the other side of the spiked wall. Take a simple jump (2) to return to the side of the platform near the pillar with the slanted ramp in the corner (and avoid some more falling blocks). Do a standing jump with grab (3) to the higher slanted ledge. Climb up and pick up some flares. Turn around and do a jump grab (4) to the next higher ledge. Rooms above wood platform: Climb over the block and make your way around the walkway towards the next room. Do a diagonal standing jump with grab to the central ledge to avoid a plunge into the pit. When shooting the dog, try to stay on the central ledge between rooms. The center and right side of the next room has falling blocks, so stay on the left walkway and walk over to the vines on the wall and start climbing up the vines. Climb up, then climb left to land on a small ledge. High ledges with dog statue: Look in the opposite corner for a high switch on the other side of the dog statue. Carefully walk past the dog statue and do a simple jump to the ledge near the switch. Pull the switch to lower a floor of spikes somewhere. Return to the ledge by the wall with the vines and climb up to the highest ledge. You can watch a guard pacing back and forth. After that little detour, drop back down to the ledge and take a long running jump with grab across the gap with the spikes below. Climb up on the block, then take a diagonal jump with grab to the vines on the wall. Climb down and then to the left of the spikes. Drop and land beside the spikes. Abandon Hope, All Ye Who Enter Here! You have been warned! Save your game. Climb up over the sign and look down into the pit to see a small medi-pack. Walk to the edge of the ledge in line with the medi-pack, drop down and run forward to pick up the medi-pack. Do a roll, then run or doing a standing jump with grab back to the ledge to climb out before the spiked ceiling kills poor Lara. Now that you have an extra small medi-pack, use it to restore the health you lost! Near the doorway, do a diagonal standing jump with grab to the left ledge avoiding the overhead arch. (If the spiked floor blocks your path, you forgot to pull the switch to lower the floor. Go back to an earlier saved game and be sure to hit the switch first.) Take a long running jump with grab across the pit with spikes. Another pit! Look down and see some shotgun shells. Walk to the edge of the ledge in line with the medi-pack, drop down and run forward to pick up the shells. Turn left and do a standing jump with grab to the higher ledge to get out before the spikes kill Lara. Immediately run forward and drop into the next pit and crawl to safety before the spikes descend (missing the goodies on the ledge). OR Wait for the spikes in the next room to descend. Then jump to the ledge and pick up 2 sets of shotgun shells. Get full health and save your game! From the ledge with the shells, turn left at a diagonal and run forward onto the spikes. Immediately, start crawling forward to safety before all of your health is gone. Crawl forward, turn around and use the Action key + down arrow to lower yourself from the crawlspace. Rooms with walls of spikes: You are on the other side of the walls of spikes that you encountered earlier. Descend to the next lower room by crawling backwards to the low opening, then using the Action + down arrow to lower yourself into the lower room. Find two sets of harpoons near the corner with the switch. Pull the switch to open the exit door in the higher room. You are not done yet, lower yourself into the lowest room and find Secret #1 in the lowest room - MP5 clips and a large medi-pack. Climb up to the top room with the spiked walls and pull the switch near the door to raise the grates by the spikes?????? Enter the doorway and find yourself on the wooden platform. Repeat the trip to the top using the vines on the wall. Simple jump over the fallen blocks. Standing jump grab to the higher ledge, then jump grab to next higher ledge. Find the climbing vines and climb up to the ledge near the dog statue. Continue climbing up and repeat the long running jump with grab across the gap with the spikes below. Climb up to where you made the jump to the vines on the trip to "Abandon Hope". From the high block, turn around and look back the way you came and look up to see a higher ledge. Do a jump grab to the higher ledge and make your way to the top. When you reach the top ledge, turn around and look back to see a higher ledge. Take a long running jump with grab to the higher ledge and pick up some Uzi clips. Go back and now enter the building. Above map room: Find yourself on the top floor above a room with computers and tables. Pick off the guards running around in the room below. As you go down the walkway, shoot the guard that runs from the hallway. Find the hall with the stairs at the other end of the room and go downstairs. Shoot any remaining guards and pick up a small medi-pack and flares from the bodies. On the center table, pick up the Cairn Key. Then carefully look on the blackboard and record the drawing related to the key. Crates: Find the stacked crates in the Map room. Pull the large crate out of the wall, then run around the pillar and pull the crate out of the way. Use the crowbar to break open the padlocked door. Pull the large crate on the floor towards the door and pick up MP5 clips. Climb on the short crates on the right and pull the first large crate out of the stack. Get on the other side of the crate and push as far as you can towards the door. Pick up uncovered MP5 clips which had been covered by the crate. Enter the stack and pull another crate out as far as you can. Now go on the other side of the stack and push a crate in to reveal Secret #2! A large medi-pack. Library: To figure out this puzzle yourself, run around to open the doors to the to the back room and the left room. The trick is to step on the floor in the back room which opens the exit door in the left room, then find the path which will not cause the exit door to close (don't step on any floor squares which cause the door to close). Take a look at the picture, Xs mark areas on the floor which can close doors. Enter the library, and take a right and run into the alcove on the right wall (1). You will hear a door open. Go to the opposite side of the room and enter the opened door into room (2). This will open a door in the back of the library, room (3). Pick up the 2 sets of shotgun shells in the room at the back of the library. Going as far as you can into the back room will cause the final door in the other room of the library to open. (If you step on the correct square in the back room, you will hear the door open). Then carefully follow the path shown in the picture path (4) to avoid stepping a trigger spot on the floor which would close the door. Path (4): From the room in the back of the library, exit the door near the left wall, then take a right (avoiding the trigger floor near the door to the back room). Follow the path along near the library back wall and enter room (2) on the right side of the door. You will find another door in room (2) now open. Radiation River: Signs warn of Radiation danger. Run up the wood ramp and find yourself in a very dark area. Shoot your pistols for light and to shoot anything that sneaks up on you and avoid stepping on the green radiation river. After you have shot the dog, you can use flares to explore. Find a tunnel on the left side of the radiation river and climb on the ledge to pick up a small medi-pack and shotgun shells. After exploring the bottom of the radiation river and admiring the safe (from a safe distance), follow the river up hill. As you go uphill, look to the right of the river for a small opening. You can walk across the river and climb up. Hill with cairns: You are back in the area with an unclimbable hill, cairns (large stone blocks) and the mist. After you are thoroughly confused, remember the blackboard on the wall in the map room? The drawing had three cairns in line with a stick figure of Lara and the words ,Key! Line up the tallest cairn with the cairn on the top of the hill. Where does it line up on the wall? Near the tallest cairn, look for a black spot on the wall (above a short block). Select the Cairn Key from the menu and hit Enter to insert the key into the black spot on the wall. Three of Williard's elite Scottish guards appear from nowhere trying to slice and dice poor Lara to bits. After the guards are dead, return to the radiation river and head uphill. You know you are on the right track when one of the guys in kilts shows up. After shooting him, find the opening on the left near the top of the radiation river. Enter the opening for Secret #3. Secret #3: Find yourself above a valley. Lower yourself over the edge near one of the flags and drop to the ground losing some health. As you enter the next valley and pick up Uzi clips. Run around the valley until you find three Scottish guards. After shooting them, approach one of the rock monuments (known as Stone Henge). Near the rock monument, pick up two more sets of Uzi clips which triggers one more Scottish guard. Look for the steam nearby, and drop down into an underground cave (opposite of Stone Henge). Find the stairs and kill the last Scottish guard guarding the stairs. Run up the stairs and find the helicopter.
